Sarah McEntee

Bio:

A 2016 graduate of Iowa State University (B.A.), Sarah McEntee joined the Waukee Community Schools band staff in the fall of 2020. In her first year, Sarah’s duties included a wide variety of master class lessons and small group instruction, paired with ensemble coaching at both Waukee Middle School and South Middle School. Sarah also assisted in teaching jazz fundamentals to beginning jazz students, as well as lead 6th grade band online classes at both middle schools. Currently, Sarah collaboratively shares the responsibilities of the sixth and seventh grade concert bands, small group and master class lessons, varied chamber ensembles, and seventh grade jazz band and jazz combos. Previous teaching assignments included an instrumental music, long-term substitute position and a two-year term as the fifth through twelfth band director in the I-35 Community School District (IA). Sarah is an active member in the Central Iowa Wind Ensemble and has been a private trumpet instructor for the past ten years in the Des Moines Metro area. When not teaching or playing trumpet, Sarah enjoys baking savory dishes to share with her fellow band staff members. She also enjoys long walks with her rescue dog, Molly. Sarah’s current professional affiliations include: SCIBA (South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association) and IBA (Iowa Bandmasters Association).
