Kelsie Kitz

Bio:

Kelsie Kitz started playing flute in 5th grade and fell in love with it almost immediately. She did not initially plan to be a music educator and instead started her career in environmental science. Music stayed a big part of her life, and eventually she missed it too much, so she went back to school, changed careers, and became a music educator.

Kelsie is the Band Director at Lewis and Clark Middle School, where she loves teaching young students music! Her favorite part of music is the community, the sense of camaraderie, and the teamwork that goes into creating and learning music with other people. Teaching is her biggest passion and she deeply believes that everyone is capable of learning when given the opportunity, resources, and support to do so. She also believes that learning music can be a joyful experience, and helping to provide that for students is one of the most meaningful and important parts of her work. In addition to teaching regular band classes in middle school, Kelsie also teaches a beginning flute class to introduce young musicians to the coolest instrument!

When not in my classroom, you can find Kelsie out on the ski hill, riding her mountain bike, or reading a new book. Her goal is to read 100 books this year!
